Alexander Detkov

Alex is investigating Large Language Model alignment and the construction of world models using transformers through predictive coding and deep reinforcement learning at the Thomson lab. He is passionate about narrowing the gap between artificial and natural intelligence, drawing inspiration from neuroscience, mathematics, and physics. Alex received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics and Mathematics from the University of Alberta. He has worked on computational biophysics in Wylie Stroberg’s lab, experimental particle physics in collaboration with the IceCube Observatory, and artificial intelligence at Huawei under Di Niu. Outside of his research, Alex enjoys playing the piano, spending time with friends, and learning new things.
