Austin Brotman

Austin is interested in the neural processes that allow us to control our movements, and how these change after learning or disuse. He received his MS in Computer Science and his BS in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University. While at Stanford, he worked in Russ Poldrack’s lab using dense sampling to profile disuse of the sensorimotor system after spinal cord injury. He also studied the interpretability of unsupervised machine learning models trained on neuroimaging data. Before neuroscience, he spent time on software engineering and medieval history. He enjoys cooking, concerts, and attempting to draw when he’s not busy with research.
