Nathaniel Nyema

Nathaniel received a B.S. and M.S. in Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time at Penn he had the opportunity to work with several great labs. As an undergraduate in Dr. Danielle Bassett’s lab he studied human reinforcement and graph learning. As an undergraduate in Dr. Brian Litt’s lab he developed machine learning tools for seizure detection. Most recently he worked as a research technician in Dr. Amber Alhadeff’s lab using optogenetics and fiber photometry to study the neural control of food intake in mice. Nathaniel is ultimately interested in using a combination of all the skills he’s acquired to study network mechanisms underlying learning and memory and how they are affected in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
