ZNext Special Event: How do we perceive the world? ZNext questions for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2021

The laureates were Professor David Julius and Professor Ardem Patapoutian, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to discover “receptors for temperature and touch.”The scientists identified critical missing links in our understanding of the complex interplay between our senses and the environment which enables us to explore more therapies in the future. In response to a number of interesting questions raised by the public, Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute (TCCI®) organized a special webinar on October 10  and invited four neuroscientists who study ion channels to explain this year’s Nobel Prize and discuss practical future application of this work.

The meeting was hosted by Doctor Cui Wenwen of Basic Medicine from Shanghai Jiaotong University’s School of Medicine. Also engaged in the roundtable discussions were Gao Yuan, postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School/Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Guo Yusong, Professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology’s Tongji Medical College , Professor Yang Wei, Associate Dean of Zhejiang University’s School of Basic Medicine of, and Professor Yao Jing of the Department of Cell Biology, School of Life Sciences, Wuhan University.
